Worldsailing

Following a WS Board Meeting last weekend, WS can now confirm that there will be no qualification regatta ahead of the 2020 Offshore World Championships.

22 entries were received and paid for before the entry deadline, 20 December 2019. However, with only 20 Boats available at the World Championships in October 2020, it was decided that in accordance with item 2.4(a) of the Qualification System;

2.4.   If more than 19 MNAs pre-enter but if World Sailing decides that there are not enough MNAs to justify a qualification process, the World Sailing Board will allocate the entries to the 2019 Offshore Worlds based on: (a)  The date on which an MNA pre-entered (the earliest pre-entries will be prioritised);

Two entries from within Europe would therefore be withdrawn; Europe being the Continent that was over-subscribed. The last payments received were from SLO and HUN, who are now top of a waiting list which is now open for any other countries to join also.

This email is confirmation of entry to the 2020 World Championships in Malta for the following Nations:
AUS, AUT, BEL, CZE, ESP, FIN, FRA, GBR, GER, IRL, ITA, JPN, MLT, MON, NED, NZL, RUS, SUI, SWE, USA

The pre-entry fee already received will be held on file as deposit towards the World Championship entry fee which will be confirmed in the Notice of Race.
